About the Speaker:

Paul has worked in national and European developments in education and training for >30 years, including 5 years helping to deliver the European Commission’s higher education and vocational training funding programmes from a base in Brussels. Paul has since relocated to Scotland and continues to provide research, development, evaluation and consultancy services to a broad range of clients, including Scottish Government and the European Commission and has both specialist expertise and a confirmed interest in issues relating to learning and skills recognition. Paul has delivered inputs at many past Businet conferences and has also provided evaluation services to past projects in which Businet was a partner.

This session will be of interest to members looking to present a future application for funding, either as a cooperation partnership or in any other relevant funding action within the Erasmus+ programme. 

    The teams that play the BLG do not represent their University but players/students are mixed so that each group/team is composed of students who study at different institutions and speak a different mother tongue.

    The assignment of the BLG is in English, so the game will be played in English.  This means that the assignment and the final documents must be written in English and the common language for communication is also English.  Note that if players use their mother tongue during the game,  penalties will be taken into account!

We would like to invite you as a partner in the BIP Sustainable Digital Consumption, hosted by our programme in Media & Entertainment Business.

In this BIP, we explore the role of social media and AI in relation to topics such as fake news, filter bubbles, representation, cyberbullying, mental health… Content is everywhere and all around, but how can we maintain a healthy relationship with everything digital and online? In today’s society, it is of key essence that we understand the intricacies of social media and AI to have a sound perception of reality. 

The BIP aims to create awareness by using the very tools that are in the spotlight to generate that awareness. Students will focus on a healthy, mindful and balanced relationship with online content by smart scrolling and digital wellbeing. To raise awareness students will create (audiovisual) awareness campaigns to make others reflect on how they consume digital content and maintain a healthy and sustainable relationship with everything digital.

The BIP consists of 3 online sessions on Wednesday 25^th February, 4^th March and 11^th March from 5.30 tot 6.30  pm (CET) and 1 offline week from 16^th till 20^th March 2026 at our campus in Kortrijk, Belgium.

We are looking forward to invite partners to participate. We would like to welcome a minimum of 25 international students, so we are looking forward to have up to 8 students from a partner, but all is up for discussion.

Could you let us know by 30^th November if you would like to participate with some of your students? If there isn’t a InterInstutional Agreement for a BIP with us yet, then this gives us the opportunity to take the necessary steps.

No prior knowledge of Circular Economy principles is required: through expert-led sessions and visits to Circular Economy-focused companies in the Brussels area, you will gain the insights needed to co-create impactful ideas that could be integrated into real business practices. 

This week offers a unique opportunity to connect with fellow students in a dynamic, cross-cultural environment. You'll reflect on sustainable business practices and explore alternatives to the traditional linear economy model—all while having fun!

Businet has hosted a student conference annually for over 20 years. The student event is designed to enable you to interact with new people from different cultural backgrounds, to work and develop together in the beautiful city of Porto. You will also get the chance to sample Experiential Learning (Experiential learning is the process of learning through experience and is more specifically defined as “learning through reflection of doing”) in a different environment. The concept of bringing students from different countries and institutes together, to network and learn, has been one that Businet has championed since 1997.  Last year’s conference 2025 was hosted by Thomas More in Antwerp but after hosting a few very successful editions, we have changed venue to ISLA-Polytechnic University, Porto Gaia.

What to Expect:

• Exclusive Visits to European Institutions (European Commission Committee of the Regions, European Parliament,…): Walk the halls of power where crucial decisions shaping Europe are made. See firsthand how policies are crafted and negotiated.
• Interactive Conferences with Expert Lobbyists: Gain insider knowledge from top lobbyists who will share their strategies and techniques. Learn how they advocate for change and influence policy.
• Hands-On Case Study: Put theory into practice! Engage in a dynamic case study that simulates real-world lobbying scenarios. Work with fellow students to develop and present your own lobbying strategy. 

Come and spend 3 days at HELMo in Liège, Belgium. Students will work in multicultural groups on the topic of slow fashion and marketing. Workshops, lectures, debates, games and tours will be organised to foster critical thinking, consumption awareness and marketing in the fashion industry.

Included in the price: 3 nights in a local hostel, 3 lunches, 1 dinner, city tour, workshops, activities.

Registration will open early academic year.

This week will be a mix of problem-solving case in order to develop the cooperation, creativity and flexibility of students within an international environment. 

Students will also visit a local brewery and enjoy beer tastings. Social activities and a beer/chocolate hunting in the European capital, Brussels, will also be foreseen in order to develop the intercultural understanding and the Belgian specialities discovery. 

The week will be a mix of conferences, working sessions coached by professionals with a final presentation and prize ceremony.

More than ever, it’s important to drive your business, keeping the eyes on key figures in a dashboard… just as you do it to drive your car. The recent Corona crisis forced companies to rebuild their business and to reorganize it, transforming the threats into opportunities. If you haven’t a solid management system, it can be more difficult to keep up. 

During the week, we will focus on KPIs (Key performance indicators) : Why is it so important to have a good dashboard ?  Examples of relevant KPIs – testimonials of companies. Drive your own virtual business in teams and try to perform and maximize your own KPIs in a competitive environment.

• A visit of Choco Story (Chocolate museum in Brussels) and the town center of Brussels  
• A business game during which you will in team drive a company that produces and sells leisure boats 

From March 29 till April 1, take on the role of a marketing consultant for Du Bocq Brewery.
