Explore India Through Two Unique International Learning Experiences

7/7/2026

THEN is delighted to invite Businet member institutions to participate in two flagship international learning initiatives that combine academic excellence, cultural immersion, and the development of global employability skills.

International Food Day – October 2026

This October, THEN will host an International Food Day 2026, centred around the theme presented in the accompanying promotional poster (see newsroom).

More than a culinary event, this experiential learning programme is designed to strengthen students' global employability by developing transversal skills and promoting Global Citizenship Education (GCED). Participants will explore how food connects culture, sustainability, and social responsibility through a range of engaging learning experiences.

Highlights of the programme include:

  • Discovering the Langar tradition, the world's largest community kitchen, and learning how it promotes equality, inclusion, community service, and large-scale zero-waste practices.
  • Exploring farm-to-fork approaches in India's agricultural heartland, providing valuable insights into sustainable food systems that align with the objectives of the European Green Deal.
  • Understanding how traditional culinary techniques, including slow cooking and clay oven methods, continue to be preserved as important elements of cultural heritage.
  • Examining the growing innovation within the food, tourism, and hospitality sectors, while discovering how Indian cuisine has become an increasingly influential part of the global culinary landscape.

World Heritage Exploration – April 2027

Following the success of our previous heritage programme, we are pleased to announce the next edition of our World Heritage Exploration, taking place in April 2027 in the remarkable city of Chandigarh, India.

Designed by the renowned architect Le Corbusier, Chandigarh offers students an exceptional opportunity to study one of the world's most significant examples of modern urban planning within a unique post-colonial Indian context. As part of the UNESCO-listed The Architectural Work of Le Corbusier, the city represents a shared international heritage linking India with France, Switzerland, and several other countries.

This programme supports international mobility objectives, including those promoted through Erasmus+, while providing students with valuable intercultural competencies and a distinctive academic and professional experience.

Join Us

We warmly invite Businet member institutions to partner with us by sending student groups to these two inspiring international programmes: the International Food Day in October 2026 and the World Heritage Exploration in April 2027.

Together, we can provide students with meaningful international experiences that foster cultural intelligence, sustainability awareness, global citizenship, and the transversal skills needed to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world.

We look forward to welcoming your students and building new partnerships that strengthen our shared commitment to international education.
