Join Us for the Hands-On Experience in Riga! We are actively looking for motivated students to join the practical, on-site component in Riga. This is a unique opportunity for students to move beyond theory and gain real physical experience with sustainable materials. The on-site module features:
- Practical timber upcycling and prototyping workshops.
- Collaborative design, fabrication, and assembly of real-world timber structures.
- Mobile workshops and technical visits to leading timber manufacturing facilities and contemporary wooden architecture sites across Latvia (including the historic Riga Circus dome and ZAZA Timber).
Program Abstract: WACS is an innovative, experimental initiative that bridges the gap between design and technical execution by bringing together the Institute of Architecture and Design and the Faculty of Civil and Mechanical Engineering. The program is specifically designed to foster active collaboration between architecture and civil engineering students. Working in interdisciplinary teams, participants will explore the future of sustainable architecture through timber design, circular economy principles, and digital modelling.
