Businet Annual Conference Sofia 2025
Last week, the Businet community gathered in Sofia for an inspiring and truly memorable Annual Conference, bringing together almost 200 delegates from 27 different countries. The diversity and engagement of our participants once again demonstrated the strength of the network—and the collective commitment to advancing international education.
The programme was rich and varied, featuring excellent keynote speakers who offered fresh perspectives on current developments shaping higher education and mobility. A particularly notable highlight was the first-ever panel discussion “Working with Asian Partners” at a Businet conference. The session was very well received, sparking lively debate, valuable insights, and calls to make it a recurring feature in future editions.
Innovation and exchange also took centre stage during the Thinking Out Loud session, where delegates enthusiastically shared ideas, promoted ongoing initiatives, and explored opportunities for collaboration. This open forum created an energising atmosphere and showcased the creativity within the network.
The introduction of a digital poster exhibition brought a modern and interactive touch, enabling participants to present projects, research, and institutional achievements in a flexible and accessible format.
Throughout the conference, members engaged in a series of workshops dedicated to sharing best practices, as well as sessions focused on the dissemination of European Union–funded projects, highlighting Businet’s important role in driving international cooperation and innovation.
In addition, the various Working Group meetings allowed specialists to connect within their fields, reflect on ongoing activities, and plan future initiatives that will continue to strengthen the network.
Of course, Businet would not be Businet without its strong emphasis on community. From coffee breaks to evening events, the conference offered numerous networking opportunities, giving delegates the chance to reconnect with familiar faces and build new partnerships.
Sofia provided a welcoming backdrop for a week filled with knowledge-sharing, inspiration, and collaboration. We look back with pride on a successful conference and look forward to continuing this momentum throughout the year.
