Pio Fenton Virtual Conference - Workshop Information

Munster Technological University are leaders in the application for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This workshop will overview our general approach and how it is applied in our University.

 

The workshop will give a detailed look at how Recognition of Prior Learning was applied on a cohort basis. This will explore how the training undertaken by pilots in becoming commercial licensed pilots was incorporated into a 4 year degree where the previous training accounted for half of the overall credit.

 

The workshop will also look at how we can more apply this mechanism in other professions. There can be resistance amongst Higher Education professionals to such techniques; this workshop will also explore the concept of not making people learn what they already know.
