The Partners
Below are outlined the partners that work with Framework, and a link to their website.
Businet
Businet is a network for the development of business education programmes and was founded in
1987. There are 70 current full members, plus associate members from industry. All of the partners in this project are
members of Businet. The Businet organisation will support this project, manage the delivery of the project and be central to
project dissemination. Businet has also developed a generic work placement qualification, the Certificate of European Work
Based Competence. Businet will use its network of members to develop the social and cultural preparation unit in countries
that are not represented by project partners.

Europa Wirtschaftsschulen Vienna
EWS Vienna will provide for the quality management for this project. EWS have experience in
managing projects in the past and are a respected member of the Businet network. The experience of project administration,
quality control and delivery is a key ingredient in the make up of the project team. EWS-Vienna held the Presidency of
Businet between 1998 and 2000 and has close to 40 years experience with European educational programmes. It was influential
in devising quality control mechanisms for three international associations. Because of the practice-oriented training EWS
provides, it is thoroughly familiar with the importance of work placements and has developed an important network of
placement providers.

Haute Ecole Galilee
Haute Ecole Galilee – ECSEDI – ISALT is a Belgian official “Ecole superieure de type court”
polytechnic that offers higher education in non-university Higher education sector. The business department is based in
central Brussels and has two curriculum specialties– ECSEDI a management programme involving secretarial studies, languages
and office technology and ISALT a tourism school. Isalt is the largest official tourism school in French speaking Belgium
(700 students). The college has exceptionally strong links with industry. Like EWS and New College, ISALT has been
instrumental in the development of mobility projects. A member of HEDTOUR since 1995, the role of ISALT will be involvement
in the writing of e-learning packages and the “testing” of the products.

Hogeschool West Vlaanderen
Hogeschool West Vlaanderen have been actively involved with Businet and Hedtour since 1994.
The college arranges a large number of work placements outside of Belgium each year and they have very good contacts across
Europe. They have worked extensively with Hertz and this link will be used when developing, testing and evaluating packages.
Geographically, they are based very close to KHBO and the organisations will share expertise. HWL has a long experience in
teaching business studies, information technology and public relations. Furthermore, HWV has a long and great experience in
international projects. This experience will assist in the activities detailed below. HWV will be involved in the development
of a work based student qualification and provide expertise within the social and cultural preparation unit.

Katholieke Hogeschool Brugge-Oostende (KHBO)
Katholieke Hogeschool Brugge-Oostende (KHBO) is a school for higher education, which offers
programmes in Tourism and Leisure Management. Commercial Sciences, Business Administration and IT programmes, amongst other
programmes, are also offered at the school. KHBO has been involved with the HEDTOUR group of Businet since 1995. They have
been involved in mobility projects since joining the group. The school has very strong tourism links in the Flanders area.
The involvement in the project will be in assisting in the creation of the work placement database. A key role will be played
in the testing process.

Katholieke Hogeschool Leuven
In 1987 the department ECHO of KHLeuven took the initiative to set up the international
network of school for Business and Management, namely Businet. A representative of KHL staff has been on the Board of
Management of Businet since its inception. KHL Department ECHO has extensive experience in European projects and programmes
and is exceedingly active in Internationalisation. KHL will provide for the Financial Management of the project and will be
represented in a number of the work units that make up the project. KHL will also provide the financial project manager who
will be part of the executive management team. The role of KHL in this project is therefore key.

Intercollege Cyprus (Larnaca)
Intercollege was founded in 1980 and currently has the benefits of a large established
College: a wide range of programmes, a faculty which consists of qualified professionals actively involved in research and
high academic standards. Intercollege programmes have been developed to incorporate the respective programmes of well-known
European, British and American universities. Intercollege will be involved in providing contacts for testing the products in
Cyprus. They will also provide the expertise within the social and cultural preparation unit. They will take responsibility
for dissemination in Greek speaking countries.

Merkur Akademie Karlsruhe
Merkur Akademie International has been a member of the Businet network since 1993 and the
HEDTOUR group since 1995 and has been a partner in all of the mobility projects operated by the network. They also have
experience as a partner and a co-ordinator of a Leonardo pilot project. Merkur will provide access to industry in Germany.
The role in this project will be the involvement in the preparation of e-learning packages and the testing of the products.
Merkur will be responsible for the dissemination of project information in Germany. Merkur Akademie delivers quality
management programmes and specialises in management and tourism, both key elements in this project.

Estudio International Sampere Madrid
Estudio International Sampere is a specialist language school based in Madrid. The main role
of this organisation is to provide expertise within the social and cultural preparation unit. They will also provide the
expertise in language skills to actively translate units into the Spanish language. They will provide contacts for the
testing of products in Spain and be responsible for the dissemination of information in their own country. The college will
play an active role in collecting data for Unit 1 and promoting the use of databases.

The Institute of Administrative Management
The Institute of Administrative Management is a professional management institute based in
London. Formed in 1915, the IAM’s mission is to promote the science of administrative management. It does this through the
provision of a programme of vocational education with an open access certificate level and at Diploma and Advanced Diploma
levels, leading through to a BA Honours degree and entry to other professions. It has considerable experience of monitoring
quality in educational delivery, and in the assessment and validation of a broad range of professional and vocational
qualifications. Within the context of this project, the IAM will act as advisors and validators of the qualifications that
will be established. It will be a key participant in assuring that the quality systems being designed are compliant with
professional international standards, leveraging its considerable experience of validating and quality assuring international
management programmes. The IAM will also have a role in the dissemination of project information to organisations and
individuals that they are associated with, through their journal.

Leighton Education
Leighton Education is a member of the Leighton Group of companies who work in different
market sectors and who provide internet based systems solutions in both packaged and bespoke forms. The Group was founded in
1979. The Leighton Group of companies have a very broad range of capabilities spanning the technology of ICT, the aesthetics
of design, marketing, training, publishing, construction and inter-organisational working. All of this expertise can be
brought to bear on any one project depending on the needs of a particular customer. Leighton Education were the senior
technology partner in a £6m 4-year ADAPT project (referred to as Learning North East) managed by the University of Sunderland
from 1998 until 2001. Leighton developed a broad range of systems (all web-enabled) which supported the project. Leighton
will be responsible for the delivery of the systems package and have active involvement in most work units.

New College Durham
New College Durham was a founder member of Businet (1987) and Hedtour (1992). They have taken
the lead role in the Hedtour group since the group was formed. New College has managed a series of Leonardo mobility
projects, since the first application in 1996. They have managed a pilot project (1995 – language project). The college is in
the process of developing vocational foundation degrees. Skills development is a key element of this new UK qualification and
New College will play a large part in the development of e-learning packages particularly the skills development and self
development packages. The college will play an active role in collecting data for Unit 1 and promoting the use of database
and disseminating project information in general. New College will research student mobility initiatives in the UK.

L’Universite Professionelle International (IGS) Paris
L’Universite Professionelle International IGS based in Paris were recruited to the
partnership for their expertise in the field of mentoring. They currently work on educational initiatives with French
employers associations to provide mentoring skills packages. They have been involved with providing mentor training for over
4000 trainees. These packages are currently delivered in the classroom on a part-time basis. IGS will work with industrial
organisations and colleges with mentoring experience in this project to produce computer based training packages. The
experience of IGS and partners will be instrumental in preparing and delivering the mentor package. IGS will act as lead
organisation in work package 3 “mentoring package”. IGS experience in the mentoring field will also play a key role in the
development of the mentor qualification within Unit 7 “mentor qualification”. IGS will also play a role in Unit 1, 2, 3, 4, 6
and will be responsible for dissemination activities. The university will play an active role in collecting data for Unit 1
and promoting the use of database. IGS has as wide experience in the provision of education programmes specialising in
quality issues.

Doba Maribor
DOBA European Business and Educational Centre is the largest private educational institute in
Slovenia. It was founded in 1990. Doba's provision includes higher non-university education in publicly recognised programmes
leading to vocational college degree. Being involved in vocational education and training, Doba has strong links with
industry as well as institutions in the field of VET and adult education in Slovenia. Today 1141 students study at the
vocational college at DOBA, 474 of them online. The model for online delivery and tutoring system were developed by Doba.
Since 2000 Doba has been involved in transnational mobility placement projects. DOBA will play an active role in the
development of database (unit 1), development of cultural packages and ICT technical systems development (units 4, 10) ,
development of appraisal scheme and supporting documentation (unit 5) and will contribute its share to the quality management
and dissemination activities (units 9, 11).

4Projects
4Projects is a project management specialist who uses the ASP mode of delivery to achieve
their goals. Through their work they are conversant with the challenges of inter organisational communications and have
developed support systems that greatly assist in this process. Their role within this project will be to provide the document
management system, act as consultants and work closely with Leighton Education. They will have a significant role to play in
the dissemination of the project information. They will also act as a work placement provider and consequently be involved in
the testing of the e-learning units. 4Projects has been actively recruited to the project group for their expertise in inter
organisational communications.
