The Framework Initiative

Work Based Learning in Action

The Framework initiative was established to meet the needs of three key stakeholders groups in the establishments and delivery of work placement.

The Framework Project

Students

  • Get access to an online database of placement offers across the World, providing rich details of the work role, the organisational setting and useful information about the stay abroad.
  • Are supported during the entire duration of the placement process (pre-placement, during placement an post placement).
  • Profit from a number of integrated work packages which will be supported and deliver work-based learning
  • Maximise the value of their work experience.

Companies

  • Have access to a pool of well motivated and well prepared students looking for work placements.
  • Can fully integrate the placement students into the organisation, whilst providing staff development opportunities for its own employees.
  • Profit from a mentor package, providing workplace mentors with a self-managed online training tool to develop mentoring competencies.

Educational Institutes

  • Receive a model for students and industrial partners to maximise the benefit of the work placement.
  • Can integrate the work placement period into a vocational programme and provide academic recognition for that period.
  • Can encourage a higher level of participation in student mobility projects
  • Will strengthen student recruitment through promotion of high quality placements which fast track vocational skills development.
